How Can People Help ???

How people can help:

There are a number of local organizations in the countryside and the cities that are providing services to the displaced residents of Port-au- Prince and other places that have been affected by the earthquake. Services provided include: housing, food, education and medical care.

First Support will be given to legitimate local Haitian groups. The individuals of these organizations are members of the same communities that are receiving the needed services. This will be done because they maximize the value of our donations by using local residents to do the work.  This will help the Haitian community help themselves.

Advantages to working with local Haitian organizations:

  • There are no language or cultural barriers.
  • The members of these organizations know Haiti geographically.
  • These organizations have familiarity with the culture and practices of the people, which offers major advantages to the relief effort in Haiti while lowering the overhead cost.

Second Organizing work delegations starting in March 2010 to work side by side with Haitian local and national organizations in an effort to aid Haiti rebuild its infrastructure throughout the countryside and cities.  This will include the building of houses, schools, clinics and hospitals.  Our first trip is scheduled for March 13th – 20th, 2010.

Third Organizing an educational campaign. This campaign will have two components the first is to help inform people in the United States about the issues that the Haitian people are confronting presently. The second component will be  to assist the training of teachers in Haiti in an effort to expand education throughout Haiti.
